Grade 3 SSEE practice — Social Studies and Environmental Education: family, locality, living things, air, water and our weather.

Social Studies and Environmental Education asks a Grade 3 child to look properly at what is already around them. Their family, their street, the shops and buildings of their locality, and the plants and animals sharing that space are the syllabus itself, and the questions reward a child who has noticed things over one who has memorised a list of them.

The environmental half turns that noticing into explanation. Air is invisible and still does things; water arrives, gets used and goes somewhere; the weather shifts with a season every Mauritian child already lives through. Telling living from non-living is the habit underneath all of it — deciding what something is by what it does.
