Grade 4 history and geography: your locality past and present, voyages of discovery, weather and map skills.
Grade 4 starts with the child's own locality and works outward. What was here before, who lives here now, and what changed in between — the syllabus uses the familiar as the way into the idea that places have histories at all.
Then it goes out to sea. The voyages of discovery are how Mauritius enters recorded history, and they are taught alongside weather and map skills, so the child reading about a voyage is also learning to read the map it crossed. Weather is taught the same practical way: not as a topic but as the thing that decides what a Mauritian season looks like and when a cyclone becomes a hazard.
