PSAC Grade 4 Mathematics — Free Practice Questions

Grade 4 maths practice — place value, the four operations, fractions, angles, measures and data handling.

Grade 4 is where place value stops being about reading a number and starts being about what happens to it. Once a child knows that the 4 in 3,470 is four hundreds, carrying, borrowing and comparing all follow from the same idea, and the four operations become one topic rather than four.

Fractions arrive in the same year, and they are the first mathematics that contradicts what a child already trusts: a bigger number on the bottom makes a smaller amount. That single reversal is where most Grade 4 mistakes live.
