At Grade 7 science is taught as one subject, and its opening two chapters are the reason the remainder holds together. Scientific inquiry is where a pupil works out what makes a test fair and what a control is for; measurement is where they learn that a reading without a unit is not a result at all. Every chapter after them is either answered with those two habits or guessed at in their absence.
The content then reaches about as wide as one school year can. Cells are too small to see and the solar system is too large, yet both are approached the same way — through evidence somebody gathered indirectly. Matter sorts the world into elements, compounds and mixtures; electricity behaves identically whether or not anyone present understands it; and ecosystems, food chains and biodiversity draw on an island where the examples are outside the window rather than in a foreign textbook.
