Aligned with the MIE curriculum
Grade 9 is the year school maths becomes algebraic. Up to Grade 8 a question gives you numbers and asks for a number; here it gives you a relationship and asks you to rearrange it. Changing the subject of a formula, solving simultaneously, and factorising a quadratic are all the same skill wearing different clothes.
Geometry changes with it. Trigonometry replaces measuring with calculating, coordinates turn a line into an equation, and vectors and matrices introduce objects that have rules of their own — the first mathematics where you must know what you are allowed to do before you can do anything.

How it is practised
The largest bank here by a wide margin, and much of it is structured as multi-part tasks rather than single questions, which is the form the NCE paper uses.
Revision chapters for Grades 7 and 8 come first on purpose: Grade 9 algebra collapses if the number work underneath it is shaky.
Personal and household finance is practised as arithmetic with consequences — interest, budgets and bills, where the wrong answer is a real amount of money.
